As medical procedures continue to evolve, advancements in transcatheter aortic valve
replacement (TAVR) have significantly improved patient outcomes. However, even with the most
sophisticated techniques, revisions may sometimes be necessary.
Working in collaboration with Dr. Gaudiani, Wexler Surgical has developed the TAVR Removal Kit
to assist surgeons in safely extracting transcatheter valves and replacing them with surgical
valves. This innovative approach involves vertically cutting both the metal and Dacron components
of the TAVR.Once divided, the valve can be carefully curled and extracted from the left ventricular
outflow tract using the “Handlebar Mustache Technique.”
