Wexler MIS MVR/AVR Instruments - A Gentle Touch in Heart Care

During a traditional open-heart surgery, the heart is accessed by cutting through and retracting the sternum. In contrast, minimally invasive cardiac procedures involve accessing the heart through small incisions between the ribs.

Minimally invasive procedures offer a variety of benefits, and patients who undergo a minimally invasive surgery are likely to experience:

  • Reduced scarring
  • Reduced pain
  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Less blood loss
  • Lower risk of infection
  • Quicker recovery time

Two of the most common minimally invasive cardiac procedures are Mitral Valve Repair or Replacement (MVR), and Aortic Valve Repair or Replacement (AVR). These procedures involve either repairing a damaged or defective valve or replacing it with an artificial valve.

AVR: At Wexler Surgical we offer a variety of high-quality precision instruments created with these procedures in mind. Our line of AVR instruments has a working length of 6.75 inches, and a total length of 11.75 inches. These instruments include:

MVR: Our line of MVR instruments has a working length of 10 inches and a total length of 14 inches. These instruments include:

Extra-Long MIS: For your larger patients in need of either of these procedures, we also offer a line of extra-long minimally invasive instruments, boasting a working length of 11 inches and a total length of 16 inches. These instruments include:

Additionally, Wexler offers a variety of other instruments useful in these procedures, such as rongeurs, nerve and vessel hooks, suture pullers, and more. For more information on all these items, please see our AVR/MVR Brochure.
